Sister Margaret Patricia Faherty, PBVM
Presentation Sister Margaret Patricia Faherty, a former principal at St. Columba School in Oakland, died Jan. 27 in San Francisco. She was 87 and had been a woman religious for 69 years.

A native of San Francisco, she entered religious life in 1935, just two months after graduating from high school. She was an elementary school teacher and principal fore 47 years. She served as principal and 8th grade teacher at the now defunct St. Columba School (1964 – 1970), and as 8th grade teacher at St. Joseph School in Berkeley ( 972 – 1984). She also spent 10 years as principal at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Los Angeles and taught at schools in San Francisco and San Jose.

After retiring from education in 1974, Sister Faherty moved to the Presentation Retreat Center in Los Gatos and served on the staff there for 11 years. She then moved to the Presentation Sisters Motherhouse in San Francisco.

The funeral Mass was held Jan. 31 at the Motherhouse.
