Sister Ann Louise Schlitt, SNDdeN
Notre Dame de Namur Sister Ann Louise Schlitt, a former teacher and principal at Catholic schools in Alameda, died Jan. 1. She had recently celebrated 70 years as a religious.

She was a teacher and administrator in Notre Dame elementary and high schools in California for 46 years, including St. Joseph Elementary School (1946-49) and Notre Dame High School (1956-62) in Alameda. She also worked at schools in Santa Barbara, Watsonville, San Francisco and Salinas and taught English at the College of Notre Dame (now Notre Dame de Namur University) in Belmont.

Sister Schlitt was director of junior Sisters and novices and provincial superior in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1978 she became active in the emerging hospice movement and helped establish Mission Hospice in San Mateo County.

The funeral Mass was held Jan. 5 at the Notre Dame Province Center in Belmont.
