Simbang Gabi kick off

The Filipino communities of the Diocese of Oakland gathered at the Cathedral of Christ the Light Dec. 14 for a kickoff to the annual Simbang Gabi novena. The evening began with a procession of members from different parishes carrying parols, a traditional lantern used to light the way to the church for Simbang Gabi, a nine day novena that culminates on Christmas Eve.
