Moreau Catholic's dinner, auction

Empowering the next generation to pursue opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is a passion for Guillermo Diaz Jr. the keynote speaker at Moreau Catholic High School's ninth annual Funding Hopes and Dreams dinner and auction, a benefit for the school's Trust for Student Support. The Trust for Student Support plays a vital and important role by providing tuition assistance for about 40 percent of the student body. Diaz, senior vice president and chief information officer for Cisco's Global Information Technology organization and services headquartered in the heart of Silicon Valley will be joined by Oakland diocese Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Radecke '85, emcee for the event.

Our Lady of Guadalupe pilgrimage Dec. 2

Thousands are expected to take part in the Diocese of Oakland's annual pilgrimage to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 2. Pilgrims will depart from St. Louis Bertrand Church, 1410 100th Ave., Oakland, at 9 a.m. The procession, with floats, musicians and costumes, will cover 7.5 miles on International Boulevard, go past Lake Merritt, and arrive at the Cathedral of Christ the Light about 1 p.m. Bishop Michael C. Help us harvest the olives used to produce our exceptional Dominican Sisters Olive Oil. Please wear your "grubbies" and warm clothes and bring your work gloves and a small stepladder if possible. Coffee, hot chocolate, and free BBQ will be provided for harvesters.
