Walk or run to help the poor
Getting ready to take part in the Friends of the Poor Walk/Run for St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County are Dante Barsi, Griffin Hunt, Michael Barsi, Dom Armanino, Isabelle Frasca and Sasha Williams. The teens, from Alamo and Danville, are serving as teen coordinators for the fundraising event that begins at 9 a.m. Sept. 30 at St. Isidore Church in Danville. Friends of the Poor Walk will take place at St. Agnes Church in Concord and St. Paul Church in San Pablo. Sign up to walk, run or donate at www.fopwalk.org. Select Walk for "Contra Costa County" or a local church to participate.

Newest KOC council
The St. Maximilian Kolbe Council 16770, the newest Knights of Columbus council in the Oakland diocese chartered June 28, had its first installation of officers Aug. 24 at Our Lady of Grace Parish, Castro Valley. Nationally, each year the Knights volunteer more than 75 million hours of community service and donate more than $177 million.
