Mercy Volunteers return
Five Mercy Volunteer Corps members were welcomed to the San Francisco Bay Area by the Mercy Community on Aug. 13. Mercy Volunteers Corps missioned 43 new volunteers this year across the U.S. and South America. For the 40th year, volunteers will serve the poor and marginalized at 11 sites from Baltimore to Georgetown, Guyana. Miranda Melone will serve in the Brown Bag and Activity Program at Mercy Retirement and Care Center in Oakland. The five Bay Area volunteers are from left, Nicole Fusco, Emily Janda, Myranda Empric, Sandra Ruiz and Miranda Melone. Mercy Sisters, Associates and a former Mercy Volunteer Corps member support the volunteers with spiritual and social events. Team members are Sister Judy Carle, Sister Joan Marie O'Donnell, Katie McGeehan (MVC —2001), Sister Sheila Devereux, Sister Marian Rose Power, Sister Eileen Pazmino and Associate Kelsey Connolly.
