Love to Last: 110 couples renew vows at St. James

It was a perfect Sunday afternoon on June 25 at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Fremont. One hundred and ten couples lined up, eagerly awaiting their turn to walk down the aisle adorned with beautiful white and yellow flowers. It was the perfect occasion for the couples to be reminded of the day they said their "I do's," and renew their lifetime promise of love and commitment in the eyes of God, their family and friends.

The Renewal of Vows at St. James Parish was launched in 2012. It was so well received that the parish decided to do it every five years. The Renewal of Vows on June 25 proved to be another successful event under the leadership of the St. James Pastoral Council, the efforts of the different ministries like the Knights of Columbus, MoM and Divine Mercy, as well as the generosity of the event sponsors including Weddings and Dreams, Norm and Dee Photography and Elite Bakery.

The event started with the traditional march down the aisle by each couple and followed by a Eucharistic celebration by Rev. Antony Vazhappilly and Deacon Ernie Dandan. The celebration was accompanied by beautiful music from the Sound of Light choir. After the Mass, the couples proceeded to the Mother Teresa Center for a dinner especially prepared by Maria Gayas and volunteers. Harmonix provided entertainment during dinner that included a medley of songs to serenade the couples. The parish youth leaders served the couples throughout the evening. Photo stations were set up for the couples to enjoy and pose for great memories of the event.

Beyond the festivities, the couples left the event with a priceless experience worth remembering each year until the next Renewal of Vows in 2022. In the meantime, life goes on with all the couples knowing that they have the kind of love that will last a lifetime with God in the center of their relationship.
