Congratulations to the Panther Girls' Basketball Team at Berkeley's Saint Mary's College High School for making the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) regional finals Nor-Cal Division III Championship! "Though they fell to Campolindo on March 18 in Moraga, they displayed tremendous heart as they have all season," said Greg Kelly, Saint Mary's Athletic Director, in a report in the school's March 23 enewsletter.

Among the Religious

Rev. Eugene Ludwig, OFM Cap, professor of History and Patristic Theology at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, was recently awarded the cross of the Ecumenical Patriarchate by His All Holiness Bartholomew, Patriarch of Constantinople. The honor is in recognition of the priest's 36 years of service on the board of the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute at the Graduate Theological Union, also in Berkeley. Father Ludwig has been teaching at the DSPT since 1975, initially as an adjunct, before joining the faculty in 1981. He is a biritual priest, meaning that he may celebrate in either the Roman or Byzantine Rites.
