Our Lady of Guadalupe — with song, dance and giant puppets
Students from five Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Oakland were treated to a performance of an original musical play on the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe, presented Dec. 15 by Francis in the Schools, an East Bay nonprofit group that provides an outing for children from inner-city neighborhoods. Most of the presentations have been about St. Francis of Assisi, including one in 2013 in Oakland. For some pupils, the visit was their first to the Cathedral of Christ the Light, where the musical was performed. The pupils enjoyed lunch and an afternoon of peaceful activities at the Scottish Rite Temple. Pupils from St. Cornelius School, Richmond; St. Peter Martyr School, Pittsburg; Our Lady of the Rosary School, Union City; St. John School, San Lorenzo, and St. Catherine of Siena School, Martinez, proved to be an appreciative audience.
