New military chaplain
Rev. Peter Son Vo, who served as parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish, Pinole for the past two years, has become the diocese's newest military chaplain. Father Son Vo was commissioned as an Air Force captain by Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ, who is himself a captain in the Naval Reserve. Ordained in 2006, Father Vo had served at St. Bonaventure Parish in Concord and All Saints Parish in Hayward before being assigned to Pinole. In a message to parishioners printed in the Sept. 11 parish bulletin, the priest said that he became interested in joining the Air Force Chaplain Corps when he was a seminarian. "This is an exciting adventure for me, meeting new experiences and challenges," he wrote. "Please keep me in your prayers."
