A Midsummer concert
Two accomplished musicians who grew up in the Diocese of Oakland will perform a Midsummer Concert at St. Joan of Arc Parish. Jesse Manibusan and Janèt Sullivan Whitaker — who have gained international reputations as composers as well as performing artists — will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 8 at St. Joan of Arc Church, 2601 San Ramon Valley Blvd., San Ramon. It's the first time the two have performed together. The evening will include a special dance performance by Halau Keplaloa Kikanai Teoraroa 'Ote' a — Whitaker Sullivan is a member of hula dance troupe. Tickets are $20, available at www.sjasr.org.

Safe and Sane Fireworks Sale. Sales start on June 28, noon until 10 p.m., and continue every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through July 4. The fireworks booth is located at the corner of Alcosta Boulevard and San Ramon Valley Road in Dublin. Sponsored by Dublin Knights of Columbus. Proceeds will benefit various Knights of Columbus charities. The city of Dublin permits the use of safe and sane fireworks in specific public locations and private residences.
