FACE Gala: good time, good work
Rain didn't dampen the spirit of the FACE Spring Gala. More than 300 people supported Family Aid —Catholic Education by participating in a dinner at Scott's Seafood, Jack London Square in Oakland with live and silent auctions to benefit tuition assistance for low-income families who choose Catholic school for their children. Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ, helped auction off "an evening at home with Bishop Barber," which included a catered dinner. The effort was so successful that two evenings were awarded. Three high school students — two from Bishop O'Dowd and one from St. Elizabeth — told donors how they are helping the students achieve their dreams. The dinner raised more than $390,000 for tuition assistance.
