SPRED the Word at 25
April 23 is the silver anniversary of SPRED the Word. The annual celebration begins with a SPRED — Special Religious Education Department — Mass followed by a dinner-dance fundraiser. What began 24 years ago as an appreciation dinner for SPRED catechists and is now a grand event for SPRED families, catechists and friends, while raising funds for SPRED's annual program expenses. The SPRED ministry serves more than 200 children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities, bringing them into the faith and love of the Church. St. Raymond Parish, 11555 Shannon Ave., Dublin, is hosting. The celebration begins with Mass at 5 p.m., followed by an Italian dinner in the parish hall. Dancing to the music of DJ Louie rounds out the night. Tickets: $30, available online only at www.oakdiocese.org/spredtheword. Current SPRED catechists must call the SPRED office for their complimentary ticket.
