Resources for marriage

Marriage preparation
There are several ways to complete the required marriage preparation course. Some parishes have their own classes; many refer couples to diocesan programs. Here are some of the offerings:

Resident weekend
When: June 10-12, San Damiano Retreat, Danville
Begins at 7 p.m. June 10 and concludes with Mass at approximately 4:30 p.m. June 12. Gives each couple private time to discuss their reflection about the topics presented. Must stay the entire weekend.
Cost: $430 per couple

Commuter weekend
Two-day programs taking place from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Cost: $250 per couple

Evenings for the Engaged
Each series meets on the same evening for six consecutive weeks. The sessions are facilitated by a specially trained married couple and are usually held in the married couple's home. Four to six engaged couples will attend the in-home sessions. The sessions typically begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Cost: $250 per couple.

Remarriage Prep
The Remarriage Preparation program is for those considering remarriage after death/divorce of a spouse or for those entering marriage for the first time with someone who has been married before. This program begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and concludes at 5 p.m.

Convalidation weekend
This program is designed for those couples who are married civilly and now wish to marry in the Church.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter is a weekend for married Christian couples who value their relationship and desire a richer, fuller life together.

Retrouvaille
Weekend program run by couples who have successfully overcome tremendous challenges to their own marriages. Many couples in this weekend are at the point of divorce – this will help them with tools to deal with their difficulties and rebuild damaged trust.
