Come back home, St. Isidore Parish offers

Tom Peterson

Two words describe the theme at St. Isidore Parish in Danville for the month of January: Welcome home.

Lyn Ford, director of religious education at the Danville parish, heard Tom Peterson, founder of Catholics Come Home, speak at a Catholics@Work breakfast, and knew she would like to share that experience with the people of her parish.

Peterson will speak at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 at St. Isidore Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville.

In the first six years, Catholics Come Home has aired Catholic evangelization commercials in 38 dioceses and nationally, helping, it estimates, half a million people back to the church. He has a television program on EWTN and has recently published a book.

Later that month, St. Isidore's ReConnect program will begin.

"We welcome back those who have been distanced from the Church for many reasons, including anger toward God or the Church, issues relating to divorce, not feeling fed, or simply drifting away," Ford said. "During our eight sessions we address concerns, misconceptions and the beauty of our rich Catholic faith in a safe, open format."

ReConnect meets 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan.27 to March 16 in Room 221 of St. Isidore's Ministry Center. Those interested are invited to contact Ford at 925-362-1905 or ford.lyn@st-isidore-danville.org.

The parish is also launching DivorceCare ministry. The first series of meetings will take place 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays, from Jan. 25 through April, in Room 221 of the St. Isidore Ministry Center.
