San Damiano retreat expands its gift shop

Since 1961, the Franciscan Friars have welcomed to San Damiano Retreat those who thirst for a greater connection to God. Through retreats and spiritual direction, individuals can discover answers to today's challenging questions in a peaceful and hospitable setting.

Consistent with its mission of being a Franciscan presence in Northern California and sharing the Gospel, San Damiano offers a gift shop.

In recent months, the gift shop has expanded its footprint and breadth of offerings, while in many cases lowering prices. The shop features books, artwork, music, jewelry, cards, seasonal items and other devotional items.

As gift shop manager Jan Stegner describes: "We have updated our inventory and included interfaith items, books on women of faith, and more gifts and books in the Spanish language."

Soon, the gift shop will be carrying items made by Casa Franciscana Outreach, and proceeds will go to the needs of the poor.

San Damiano's gift shop is located at 710 Highland Drive, Danville. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Closed daily for lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Phone: 925-837-9141 or www.sandamiano.org.
