St. Patrick's Seminary plans annual gala

The Eighth Annual Four Pillars Gala, an event that recognizes people or organizations for their dedication to the Catholic community and the proceeds of which aid St. Patrick's Seminary & University in Menlo Park, will be Sept. 19.

Vespers start at 5 p.m. in the seminary's Main Chapel, followed by tours, appetizers and cocktails between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m.

This year the Greater Bay Area Serra Clubs: San Francisco, San Jose and West Contra Costa County are being honored. The Serra Clubs, named for Blessed Junipero Serra, are dedicated to fostering and affirming vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

A raffle, with a limit of 3,000 tickets, features a grand prize of $25,000 or a Lexus is250. A silent auction offers many other prizes.

Proceeds benefit St. Patrick's Seminary. The good faith estimate of the fair market value of each ticket is $125. All contributions exceeding that amount will be tax deductible.

St. Patrick's is one of the seminaries to which the Diocese of Oakland sends its seminarians. Others are Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon, the Seminario Hispano de Santa Maria de Guadalupe in Mexico City, the Pontifical North American College in Rome and Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, Massachusetts.

For more information about attending the gala or helping St. Patrick's Seminary: www.stpatricksseminary.org, email advancement@stpsu.org or dial 650-289-3320.
