St. Anne's wraps up 50th year events

The Church of St. Anne's Parish in Walnut Creek wraps up its Golden Jubilee on Aug. 16, ending a year of celebratory events.

At 4 p.m. Aug. 16, Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ, will say an anniversary Mass, followed by a reception in the Parish Center and garden. St. Anne is at 1600 Rossmoor Parkway, Walnut Creek.

Charles F. Monahan, a parishioner and spokesman for the events, said all are invited to attend.

The parish has had a year of spiritual and social events to express its thanks for all that has been accomplished in the last 50 years, Monahan said. The year of preparation commenced Aug. 17, 2014 with a Mass of thanksgiving and reception.

A special prayer, written by parishioner Ellen Cobb has been recited at every Mass this year. A Holy Hour of prayer has taken place after the 8 a.m. Mass on the first Friday of each month, registered parishioners were invited to a special Jubilee Dinner, that included commemorative glasses and a copy of Matthew Kelly's book "Rediscovering Catholicism."
