Details of Pope Francis' US visit

Archbishop Bernardito Auza, a member of the organizing committee for Pope Francis' upcoming visit to the U.S., said the proposed schedule, which includes visits to three cities, runs from Sept. 22-27.

After arriving in Washington, D.C., Sept. 22, Pope Francis will visit the White House. Afterward, he would celebrate Mass at Washington's Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, then, the pope would address a joint-meeting of Congress.

He would leave for New York City Sept. 24, speak to the U.N. general-assembly Sept. 25, make some appearances and say Mass in New York. From there, he heads to Philadelphia Sept. 26, where he will participate in the World Meeting of Families Sept. 26-27.
