Junipero Serra
— Saint and Sinner

Ohlone Mission Indians and cousins, Andrew Galvan and Vincent Medina Jr., will offer different opinions on the canonization of Blessed Junipero Serra, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., July 25, in the auditorium at the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose motherhouse, 43326 Mission Blvd., Fremont. The 18th-century Spanish Franciscan priest founded a network of missions in territory that is present-day California and Mexico. He is to be canonized by Pope Francis in September.
