Cemeteries observe Memorial Day

Memorial Day will be observed on May 25, at Catholic cemeteries in the Diocese of Oakland.

Observances, which are open to the public, include:

A presentation by the Veterans Administration, followed by Mass, at St. Michael Cemetery, 3885 East Ave., Livermore, at 11 a.m. Information: 925-455-9696.

Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2200 E. 18th St., Antioch, at 11 a.m. Local Boy Scouts will place flags on veterans' graves. Information: 925-757-0658.

Mass at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, at 11 a.m. Boy Scouts will present a flag ceremony. Refreshments will be served following Mass. Information: 925-932-0900.

Mass at St. Mary Cemetery, 4529 Howe St., Oakland, at 11 a.m. Information: 510-654-0936.

Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, at 11 a.m., will be followed by a presentation from Travis Air Force Base. Information: 510-537-6600.

Boy Scouts will place flags at the graves of veterans early on Memorial Day at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2540 Church Lane, San Pablo. Information: 510-234-2012.
