Traditional Latin Mass
Rev. Canons Olivier Meney and Matthew Talarico flank Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ, after a solemn high Mass at St. Margaret Mary Church in Oakland on April 26. The Mass recognized the 10th anniversary of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign, which facilitates saying the Latin Mass. After Mass, there was exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Te Deum ((hymn) and Benediction. At a reception in the parish hall downstairs after Mass, Bishop Barber was presented with relics of three saints, Margaret Mary, Frances de Sales and St. Frances de Chantal, who founded a religious congregation with de Sales' help. Canon Meney is the episcopal delegate for the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite in the Diocese of Oakland. Canon Talarico is from Chicago and has visited St. Margaret Mary before.
