Thanksgiving Mass for new saint
A choir, dressed in Indian saris and curtas, accompanied by singer Rita Sahai and tabla player, Shripad Torvi, offered a musical prelude to a Mass of thanksgiving for the new Sri Lankan saint, Joseph Vaz, at the Cathedral of Christ the Light on March 15. Ten languages were used in the singing during the prelude, readings and prayers, symbolizing the multicultural reach of St. Vaz, who embraced the languages and cultures of his native Goa, India, and of Sri Lanka in his mission work.
