Got bunny? Easter basket treats needed

Easter may be a month away, but the annual Easter Open House Event for children and families receiving services at St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County needs help right now.

For the baskets

• 150 medium-size Easter baskets (unassembled)
• Plastic/paper grass
• Individually packaged snacks
• Plastic eggs (filled with candy)
• Easter candy (individually wrapped)
• Small toys (prizes for games)
• Small Easter plush/toys
• Activity and coloring books
• Easter-themed stickers
• Easter-themed foam self-stick craft items

To prepare for the March 28 event — which will include playing games, working on crafts, decorating eggs, playing in a bounce house and filling their own Easter baskets, before sitting down to lunch in the family dining room — donations of supplies to fill those baskets are needed.

Last year, 150 children, ages 1 to 16, attended the event, said Melanie Diegel, director of community relations and marketing for St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County. Fun, safe and family-friendly events such as this are made possible through the generosity and support of others.

Donations are needed at the Downtown Oakland Campus at 675 23rd St., Oakland, by March 18. If you would like to donate supplies, contact Diegel at mdiegel@svdp-alameda.org or call 510-877-9254.
