| Learn about Ignatian Companions
Companions in Ignatian Service and Spirituality, a program for retired or semi-retired people who have a desire to serve people on the margins while at the same time deepening their spiritual foundations, are hosting information sessions for the 2015-16 program year.
Information sessions will be held at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley at 12:30 p.m. March 14; 12:30 p.m. April 11; 10:30 a.m. May 9; and 10:30 a.m. June 13.
Sessions are also scheduled in San Francisco and San Jose. Founded in Santa Clara County in 2008 with just six members, the program expanded to the East Bay in 2010 and to San Francisco in 2013.
Participants embark on a 10-month journey that includes retreats, prayer based on the spiritual discipline of St. Ignatius of Loyola and volunteer service with a social justice program. That service commitment is ideally 10 hours weekly. Participants must be at least 50 years old.
The cost of the program is $3,000; participants are asked to provide 25 percent of the program cost. Financial assistance is available; no one will be turned away due to cost.
