ALBERT C. PACCIORINI/THE CATHOLIC VOICE
draws 51 entries
Parishes, schools and pastoral groups participated in the Diocese of Oakland's Fifth Annual Crèche Festival Dec. 12-14, which drew 51 entries. The Christmas tree and Nativity scene are reminders of the mystery of the Incarnation and they both carry "a message of light, hope and love," Pope Francis said Dec. 19. The pope said the crèche and Christmas tree are a sign of how "God made man to save us and the light that Jesus brought to the world with his birth." Click here to view all 51 entries. The festival ended with hundreds of people attending a service with Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ, and the Cathedral Choir, with lessons and Christmas carols, top photo.
