Very Rev. George Mockel

April 8, 2014

I am sitting in the airport reflecting on the events of the past week.

The many good works that I have seen and in a very insignificant way helped facilitate are due to the generosity of some very good people who have made a contribution to the Propagation of the Faith.

Some make a monthly or annual contribution. Others have remembered the Propagation of the Faith-Oakland in their wills or trusts. What a wonderful way to continue the good works of the church even after we have left this world and entered the next!

I would invite those of you who have read this blog and perhaps even enjoyed some of my reflections to consider the works of the Propagation of the Faith in your charity.

And so I end this blog with the same phrase used by one of the world’s greatest promoters of the Propagation of the Faith in our country: Bishop Fulton Sheen.

"God love you!"

(Father Mockel is vicar general of the Diocese of Oakland and pastor at Santa Maria Parish in Orinda.)
