| Pilgrimage more than a trip, a spiritual experience
Those thinking about making The Catholic Voice pilgrimage to Fatima, Lourdes and other Marian shrines should know this is more than a trip — it should be a spiritual experience.
From Oct. 5-15, 2015, the pilgrimage to Fatima in Portugal, Santiago de Compostela in Spain and Lourdes and Paris in France will be a time of camaraderie and prayer.
Three priests of the diocese, Revs. Lawrence D'Anjou of St. Raymond, Augustine Joseph of St. Felicitas and Jim Sullivan of Immaculate Heart of Mary are planning to accompany the dozens of Oakland diocese members as spiritual guides on the 11-day journey.
The pilgrimage with Unitours Inc., costs $4,399 per person, and the price includes airfare, taxes and fuel surcharges, 4- and 5-star hotels and daily breakfast, some dinners and wireless headsets for pilgrims throughout the visit to hear the guides' lectures.
To register and for information, contact Marianna at Unitours Inc., 800-777-7432, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern time only, or visit the website: www.Unitours.com/client/CatholicVoiceMarianShrines.pdf. For a brochure, email Camille Tompkins at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The tour will leave by jet from San Francisco to Paris and then Lisbon for two days in Fatima, followed by a trip into Spain and Santiago de Compostela. It will follow one of the popular routes of St. James to Lourdes, and closing with visits to several shrines and destinations in Paris.
