Run/walk in Martinez honors St. John Paul II

The East Bay Polish American Association and Polish Scouting Organization are sponsoring a 5K trail run/walk to commemorate the canonization of St. John Paul II on Sept. 13 along the Martinez Regional Shoreline.

Bib pick up begins at 8:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9:30 a.m. at 360 Ferry St., Martinez, near the Martinez Amtrak station. There will be an awards ceremony at 1 p.m. during the Fourth Polish Street Festival at 909 Mellus St., about 10 blocks from the race start. Registration for the 3.1-mile run/walk ends Aug. 15 and is $30 for adults and $10 for youths to age 15. Registrants will get a bib and a race T-shirt.
