| St. Patrick's Seminary plans annual gala September 13
The Seventh Annual Four Pillars Gala, an event that recognizes people for their dedication to the Catholic community and the proceeds of which aids St. Patrick's Seminary & University in Menlo Park, will begin with solemn vespers in the seminary's Main Chapel followed by a cocktail reception and dinner on Sept. 13.
This year St. Patrick's will honor Antonio "Tony" and Lucille Sanchez-Corea and present them with the Four Pillars Award. Tony Sanchez-Corea is a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Malta and served for 10 years on its Sovereign Council. He brought his professional expertise and management talent to countless Catholic projects throughout the Archdiocese of San Francisco and the Order of Malta.
Lucille Sanchez-Corea was an active member of archdiocesan and educational groups and is an active member of the Little Sisters of the Poor Auxiliary. She assisted her husband with his work for the Order of Malta, first, in the Western Association since 1988 and then in Rome for the last 10 years.
About 370 guests are expected to attend the gala. Vespers start at 5 p.m., social hour is at 5:30 p.m. and dinner and awards at 6:30 p.m. Seminarians will assist with greeting and hospitality.
St. Patrick's is one of the seminaries to which the Diocese of Oakland sends its seminarians. Others are Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon, the Seminario Hispano de Santa Maria de Guadalupe in Mexico City and the Pontifical North American College in Rome.
