SPRED fundraiser will be May 10

SPRED the Word XXIII, the annual fundraiser for the Special Religious Education Department, is set for May 10 at St. Raymond Parish in Dublin.

SPRED assists parishes in the Diocese of Oakland to reach out and integrate children, teens and adults with special needs into the parish family.

At the SPRED center in Oakland, and in new centers in more than a dozen parishes, dedicated volunteer catechists assist people, from age 6 to adults, with autism, intellectual disabilities, severe cerebral palsy and severe epilepsy to grow spiritually among friends, receive ongoing faith formation and participate in the liturgical and community life of the church. SPRED offers programs in both English and Spanish

The evening begins with Mass at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing, with DJ Louie B, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are $30 for adults, $12 for children age 12 and under. Seating is limited and tickets will not be sold at the door. Register online at www.oakdiocese/spred or call Inez Albores at 510-496-7228. St. Raymond Parish is at 11555 Shannon Drive, Dublin.
