Growing hopes and dreams
St. Martin de Porres School's annual Spring Gala moves across the bay this year. The event, which benefits the Oakland school's tuition assistance fund, will be held at Scott's Restaurant, 2 Jack London Square, Oakland, from 2 to 5 p.m. April 6. More than 90 percent of students receive financial aid to attend the school's two Oakland campuses. Devoted friend of the school, mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade will be there, and student and guest artists will perform. Enjoy fine wines, hors d'oeuvres, auctions and entertainment.
