Remembering the dead
In honor of All Souls Day, an altar in a chapel of the Cathedral of Christ the Light has been set up to remember those who have died. Photos and other mementoes recall the lives of loved ones. Names have been inscribed in a book of remembrance. It is traditional in Mexico, before Nov. 2, for families to choose a special place inside their houses in order to honor their dearly departed. Photos of the dead, candles, small statues of skeletons dressed in different costumes or dresses, crosses, images of the Virgin Mary and saints, and food and drinks that the dead enjoyed while alive are displayed.
