Doing one thing is no small thing
Students from St. Lawrence O'Toole School in Oakland hosted an assembly on climate education from the Alliance for Climate Education. "I learned that instead of using so many water bottles, I can just use a reusable water bottle," commented eighth-grader Jocelyn. Eighth-grader Dominic said "We should use methane as a resource of energy instead of factories." Students learned the consequences of doing nothing, so they are beginning an Ecology Club headed up by Student Leadership and are taking the DOT Pledge — "Everyone can Do One Thing." "Even though we're kids, we can help our future and our planet Earth," said sixth grader Malyssa. With motivation like this, St. Lawrence O'Toole students are ready, willing and able to change the world.
