St. John pupils use iPads to bring learning to life

St. John Catholic School in San Lorenzo takes pride in its sense of family and community. The staff members, pupils, parents and parish all work together to make SJCS a welcoming environment where academics, spiritual life and service are at the forefront of its mission.

An excellent example of this collaboration can be seen in last year's fundraising efforts that raised $54,000 for the library and new "e-library." The e-library will consist of class sets of iPad carts to be used by pre-kindergarten through eighth grade classes. Teachers will use the iPads to ensure that pupils have access to a variety of informational text sources that will help support the implementation of the Common Core State Standards, the use of 21st-century technology skills and the application of those skills and standards in real-world situations. Pupils will use the iPads to bring learning to life through interactive programs, learning videos and by creating their own books, movies, blogs and more.

To find out more about the St. John family, contact the school for a visit at 510-276-6632 or see the website at www.stjohn catholicschool.org.
