Dominican Sisters day at the races

Have fun in the midst of racing thoroughbreds and bring help and hope to inner-city school children at the Sixth Annual Dominican Sisters Vision of Hope Day at the Races on May 18 at Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley.

Vision of Hope was a dream of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose that became a reality in 1995. This fundraiser provides resources for eight Dominican elementary schools in the poorest areas of Oakland (St. Elizabeth School), San Francisco and Los Angeles. Sister John Martin Fixa is the "dream maker" and remains the executive director.

Costs $75, $100 (regular or premium seating); $1000, $2500 (special tables) include turf club admission, daily racing form, lunch buffet and more. All proceeds go to the Dominican Sisters Vision of Hope Schools. Information and tickets: 510-533-5768 or online: www.visionofhope.org.
