Language, math, more at St. Leo summer school

Students from public and parochial schools are welcome to the summer school program at Oakland's St. Leo the Great School. The summer program, which begins June 24 and concludes July 26, is open to pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students. Pre-K kids, however, must be four years old by Oct. 1.

The program will offer classes in language arts and math. Special projects and field trips are planned for Fridays.

Tuition is $495. Siblings can get a $25 discount. Tuition for students enrolled at St. Leo School is $470.

Lunches for students can be bought Monday through Thursday at a cost of $4. Snacks will also be available for purchase during the morning recess period for 50 cents.

In addition to its academic schedule, extended day care will be offered at St. Leo during the summer program. Extended care hours start before school from 7 to 8:15 a.m. and after school extended hours from noon to 6 p.m. Any student who arrives before school starts at 8:15 a.m. and any student not picked up by 12:15 p.m. will be charged for extended care. Extended care costs $3.50 an hour.

St. Leo School is located at 4238 Howe St., Oakland, telephone 510-654-7828.
