Regarding 2 letters
I am responding to two letters in the Reader's Forum on Dec. 17.
The first: Gerald Mercola, raising the issue of morality by the church by voting for issues of anti-Catholic measures. He said the church should find some backbone before America deteriorates into a secular, non-Christian country. My question: What is (or was) the alternative? President Obama is a Christian.
The second: Lindon Andrew Sjolander, sees a majority of people accepting abortion ("which is an individual's own conscience, which is judged by God, not people"), homosexuality and not going to Mass. To my thinking, God should be making that judgment, not people.
Christianity considers all sins and is compassionate.
I sign this in the name of the Holy Trinity and our holy mother.

Letters to the editor provide a forum for readers to
engage in an open exchange of opinions and concerns in a climate of respect
and civil discourse. The opinions expressed are those of the writers,
and not necessarily of the Catholic Voice or the Diocese of Oakland. While
a full spectrum of opinions will sometimes include those which dissent
from Church teaching or contradict the natural moral law, it is hoped
that this forum will help our readers to understand better others’
thinking on critical issues facing the Church at this time.
