Concert to benefit FACE
The University of Notre Dame Undertones present an evening of college a cappella music at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at Christ the King Church, 199 Brandon Road, Pleasant Hill. Proceeds from the concert will benefit FACE – Family Aid – Catholic Education, which is providing tuition assistance this year to 549 students in elementary and high schools throughout the Diocese of Oakland. In its 33 years, FACE has supported more than 20,000 students. More than 98 percent of FACE recipients in the Class of 2012 are continuing their education in colleges and universities. The concert is being sponsored by Choicelunch, a San Ramon-based company that not only provides healthy school lunches to 250 schools in California, but has as its partners three former members of the Undertones. They are Justin Gagnon, Ryan Mariotti and Keith Cosbey, who founded the choral group in 1996. The Undertones have recorded seven albums, and perform two major concerts at the university each year, in addition to making appearances at a variety of events. Each winter break, they embark on a tour, which this year brings them to California. Additional information about the 12-man group is available at http://undertones.nd.edu. Suggested donation for the concert is $10.
