The 2012 Girls' CYO Volleyball season concluded with an exciting three set match for the 8th grade diocesan championship.

In the eighth grade final, in front of a packed crowd at St. Bede's gym, the team from St. Theresa, Oakland, won the championship over Corpus Christi, Piedmont. St. Theresa lost the first set of the match 12-25, but came back to win the second in extra points 26-24. In the third set, with the score tied 10-10, Carina Brackett served five consecutive points for the win, 15-10. St Theresa was last year's diocesan champion in the 7th grade division and won the 6th grade division in 2010.

St. Leander, San Leandro, CYO teams won both the 6th and 7th grade titles. In the 7th grade final, St Leander won over School of the Madeleine, Berkeley, 25-22, 25-15. St. Leander repeated as last year's 6th grade champion. In the 6th grade division, St. Leander won the championship over All Saints, Hayward, 25-9, 25-19.

Twenty-four girls' CYO volleyball teams from around the diocese met at St. Elizabeth Oliver Lynch Center, St. Theresa Parish Center and St. Bede's Gym in February for the annual playoffs, hosted by the Oakland diocese CYO. The teams represented more than 125 teams and 1,300 girls participating in CYO volleyball this past season.
