Sister Jean Marie Des Jardins, OP

Sister Jean Marie Des Jardins, a longtime educator, died Jan. 12 at Saint Martin’s Residence at the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters Mission San Jose in Fremont. She was 92 and had been a Dominican Sister for 74 years.

A native of Brockston, Massachusetts, Sister Des Jardin’s principal ministry was in elementary and secondary education. She served as a teacher or principal at schools in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Gabriel, Fremont and Portland, Oegon. She also worked in faith formation at the Motherhouse, as a school archivist, in community service and the apostolate of prayer.

Survivors include her brothers, Eugene and John, and nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass was held Jan. 18 at the Dominican Sisters Chapel, 43326 Mission Blvd., Fremont. Burial was in the Dominican Sisters Cemetery.
