Thousands honor Our Lady of Guadalupe
Upwards of 3,000 people joined for the pilgrimage and Mass at the Sixth Annual Our Lady of Guadalupe event in Oakland Dec. 3. More than 30 parishes were represented. They moved from St. Louis Bertrand Church down East 14th Street, around Lake Merritt (seen in photo above) to the Cathedral of Christ the Light. Many were dressed as Our Lady, St. Juan Diego or in native garb. Bishop Salvatore Cordileone (bottom left photo) led the procession and was joined by about two dozen concelebrants for the standing-room-only Mass.
