Relic of St. Toribio Romo visits Bay Area

A relic of St. Toribio Romo, the patron of immigrants, is visiting the Bay Area in June and July.

The saint was martyred by the Mexican government during its persecution of the Catholic Church in the 1920s.

The relic is visiting parishes in the Sacramento and San Jose dioceses and the archdiocese of San Francisco. The remaining schedule for the Oakland Diocese is at right. A pilgrimage to take the relic back to Mexico will depart Oakland on July 4 and visit several religious and historical sites.

For more information, contact Héctor D. Medina, coordinator of Latino ministry for the Oakland diocese, at (510) 496-7224.
