A benefit at 5 p.m. June 12 at St. Columba church, 6401 San Pablo Ave., Oakland, will aid the vocal group Inspired Catholic Voices, who are going to a competition for the 2011 “Rhythm of Gospel” award, and the St. Columba “Hope for Haiti: Education” program sponsoring 170 children in Catholic schools there. Summer Sock Hop. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Saint Jerome Church, Rohan Hall, 308 Carmel Ave., El Cerrito. All-ages music and dancing with 1950’s rock’n roll music by Hot Rod JukeBox. Appetizers and drinks available. Free admission, but a donation of food is requested to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s food distribution to the hungry in our community each week. San Leander’s Meridians’ 10th Annual Summer Sports Collectors Show
