The 2010-11 concert season at the Cathedral of Christ the Light concludes with a performance by the San Francisco Boys Chorus at 8 p.m. June 4. The Cathedral’s Chorus-in-Residence will perform its spring concert, “To Russia with Song,” which celebrates its upcoming tour to Copenhagen, Denmark, and St. Petersburg, Russia. Muslim/Christian interaction
San Damiano Retreat in Danville will offer a weekend retreat July 15-17 — “Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt; A 21st Century Message of Peace and Possibility” — with Sister Kathy Warren, OSF, an author who often gives workshops related to Muslim/Christian interaction and peacemaking. During the Fifth Crusade, Francis of Assisi ventured beyond his life in Assisi to enter into a relationship with Sultan Malek el-Kamil (depicted in the icon above). He could “see” the possibility of hope and peace. People of all faiths are welcome to come and engage in open, respectful conversation. Registration is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. July 15, and the retreat ends with lunch at noon July 17. Cost is $220 for private room and $195 for shared.
