Boy Scouts celebrate 100 years

Three hundred Catholic Scouts gather for Sunday Mass, April 18, at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton during the Northern California weekend observance of the 100th anniversary of the Boys Scouts. Father Jerrold Kennedy, parochial vicar at Catholic Community of Pleasanton and a former Scout, Scout chaplain and recipient of the Scouts’ St. George Award, celebrated the liturgy. Musicians and music minister Jon Manongdo from St. Joseph Parish in Fremont led the worshippers in song. More than 20,000 Scouts participated in the 100th-anniversary Jamboree.
