Inaugural concert
Olivier Latry, titular organist of the Cathedral
of Notre Dame in Paris, plays the Conroy Memorial Organ during an
inaugural concert at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland,
Feb. 11. Latry played traditional organ pieces by Bach, Durufle, Messiaen
and other composers. He also demonstrated the various sounds of the
instrument with several short improvisations. The organ has 92 ranks
and 5298 pipes. |
