Songs of salvation
Oakland’s St. Augustine Parish will again present the Pergolesi Stabat Mater performed by the Grammy Award-winning Pacific Boychoir Academy – under the direction of Kevin Fox – on April 10 at 1 p.m. The Stabat Mater, a medieval poem describing the anguish of the Virgin Mary during the Crucifixion, will be presented within the context of the Stations of the Cross as part of the parish’s Good Friday observances. The church, located at 400 Alcatraz Ave., will open at noon for meditation and prayer. Information: (510) 653-8631.

Sacred Drama of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ

This presentation of the sacred drama, now in its 17th year, is the youth ministry’s largest annual project which involves the participation of over 75 youth and adult leaders. All are invited to experience the last days of Christ’s life in a very meaningful way.
