Songs of peace
Local composer and recording artist Janét Sullivan Whitaker will headline her annual Advent Graces Concert at St. Augustine Church, 400 Alcatraz Ave. in Oakland on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature new material from her recently released CD, “Trying to Get Ready,” as well as familiar favorites. West Bank life
Jerry Levin, a former CNN reporter and one time hostage, and his wife Sis - seen here in Israel - will speak at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1640 Addison St., at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2. Dialogue on justice
Maryknoll Father Roy Bourgeois, (left) founder of School of the Americas (SOA) Watch, and actor Martin Sheen of TV’s “West Wing” (right) will dialogue about their commitment to peace and social justice on Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit/Newman Hall, 2700 Dwight Way at College Ave. in Berkeley.
Cost is $25 and benefits the San Carlos Foundation’s work among the poor in Latin America.

Ethics and war
Father J. Bryan Hehir, noted Harvard professor of religion and an expert on ethics and war, will deliver an address on “The Politics and Ethics of Nonproliferation” on Dec. 6 at the Tresidder Memorial Union, Oak Lounge, on the campus of Stanford University from 4 – 5:30 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public.

San Francisco Bach Choir’s Annual “Candlelight” Christmas Concert.
