Pope’s Midnight Mass and other
Christmas events will be telecast on EWTN

The Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) will provide live and encore telecasts of Pope Benedict’s Christmas Mass as well as Christmas concerts from the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

The schedule (shown in Pacific Time) is as follows:

Midnight Mass with Pope Benedict XVI at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome: Dec. 24 at 3 p.m.; encore telecasts Dec. 25 at 5 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Pope’s Christmas message from St. Peter’s Square: Dec. 25 at 3 a.m.; encore telecasts, Dec. 25 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 26 at 12 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Christmas Concert by the choir of Catholic University of America in the Basilica of the National Shrine in Washington, Dec. 23 at 8 p.m.; encore telecast, Dec. 25 at 11 a.m.

Solemn Mass of Christmas Eve, preceded by choral meditations, live from the National Shrine, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.

Vespers of Thanksgiving on New Year’s Eve, with Pope Benedict presiding at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Dec. 31 at 9 a.m.; encore telecast at 2 p.m.Another featured program is “Siempre Navidad,” a festive concert sung by the San Juan Children’s Choir of Puerto Rico, that celebrates Christmas with music from around the world. It airs Dec. 20 at 6 a.m., Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. and Dec. 27 at 1 p.m.

EWTN is carried 24 hours a day on Comcast Channel 229, DISH Satellite Channel 261, and DirecTV Channel 370. In Alameda EWTN airs on Comcast Channel 30 and Alameda Power Channel. 26.
